Hello! My name is Ashley Duncan, and I will be coaching the JV girls team for the 2018-2019 Season. I am married to former Barons Basketball star, Christopher Duncan, and together we have two beautiful children, CJ (6) and Jaelynn (4).
I, myself, played for the Barons from 2007-2009. During that time, I won the NACA Defensive MVP award in 2008, and the team also won The East Coast Championships in Lynchburg, VA in '08 AND '09. To this day, we have been the only Lady Barons team to win a championship in Lynchburg. I don't say the to brag ...(well maybe a little)... But, those two season have shaped the way I coach today.
I am new to coaching, but I know what made us a great team... Being A Family!! And that's exactly what I plan to implement on this team! We will respect each other, work hard, and have fun together As A Family!! We are a young team and have a lot to learn, but I'm willing to work just as hard along side my girls to make this season and every season a success!
This will be Diamond Smith's second season coaching the Lady Barons.
She coached for 2 years at Perimeter Church for their JVG and VG teams.
She has run multiple basketball camps also at Perimeter Church and assisted in a camp with the Barons.
She has been apart of the Barons family since 2003 and played for the Lady Barons from 2004 to 2012.
She has won multiple MVP and All Tournament awards at a variety of tournaments throughout the years
and has scored 2500+ points in her Barons career. While the Barons were in off season, she played on
multiple AAU teams over the summers. She has received offers from schools such as Mercer University and Boston College.
Diamonds primary goal as a Coach is to bring out the fun and joy that basketball brings, and to help the kids grow
in their game, but mostly through Christ.
